In 2001, Middlesex Hospital opened a new, state-of-the-art Cancer Center, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, and a new Surgical Services Department. In 2003, we introduced a progressive Bariatric Surgery program. Last year, the new and improved Middlesex Hospital Marlborough Medical Center opened to serve our friends in Marlborough and the surrounding communities. And, just this year in our technology-driven Radiology Department, we introduced one of the world’s most advanced PET/CT scanners, to diagnose illnesses more quickly and more effectively.

Now, Middlesex Hospital is addressing yet another growing need in our community… Emergency Services. To meet the demands of an ever-growing population in need of emergency care, we are embarking on a major expansion of the Emergency Department at Middlesex Hospital.

What does this mean to you? We hope you’ll never need to find out, but just in case you do, we’re making some very special changes.

For those emergencies that can be remedied more quickly, we’ll have a larger Express Care area. We’re also adding a number of beds and making each bed a private room to provide our patients with more privacy and safety. We are adding a new, separate Behavioral Health area, and our waiting areas will be larger and more comfortable. In fact, our new Emergency Department promises to rival any in the area, which now serves more than 40,000 patients each year.

Check back here often to see live action from our webcam and for up-to-date information on our progress. The expected completion date of the project is January 2008, and the results will mean even better care from the hospital that continues to discover new ways to help you feel better.

Middlesex Hospital. Healthcare the way you prescribe it.
